Mobility Solutions

Public Service

Our Service

Mobility Solutions is a specialised wheelchair and seating assessment service based at Kahui Marino, Pt Chevalier Clinical Centre in Pt Chevalier, Auckland. We cover the greater Auckland region, with clinics on site and in some situations may visit people in their own homes, schools and work places as clinically required.

Mobility Solutions provides a service to people of all ages whose mobility and seating needs are long term, complex, and require individualised solutions.

If you have any questions about whether we are the right service to work with you, please review our Indicators for Wheeled Mobility and Postural Management Level 2 Credential download sheet.

There are other services that can meet the needs of clients with less complex requirements; these include:

  •   Community Occupational Therapists or Physiotherapists, from Health New Zealand Te            Whatu Ora
  •    School Therapists
  •    Hospital Therapists
  •    Child Development Team Therapists
  •    Group Special Education Therapists
  •    Therapists who work in other facilities such as rest homes or private hospital

The Team

We are a team made up of wheelchair and seating therapists who are either occupational therapists or physiotherapists. We also have therapy assistants, wheelchair technicians and other support staff to help us in the day-to-day running of our service.

Process

An assessment will be completed to determine if your needs meet the Wheeled Mobility and Postural Management Level 2 clinical indicators and Ministry of Social Development funding criteria.

If you meet the service and funding criteria, following your initial assessment, we complete equipment applications on your behalf to Accessable (the EMS funding provider).

Once funding is approved, we will work with you and coordinate trial of the recommended equipment solution that will best meet your wheelchair and/or seating needs.

For more information, please see the Frequently Asked Questions and Our Process download sheets.
